Irit Rub

Pianist

One of Israel’s finest pianists, Irit Rub began musical studies at the age of five. Graduated the Vienna Hochschule fur Musik where she studied with Prof. Hans Graf. Further studies with Prof. Arie Vardi at the Rubin Academy of Music at the Tel-Aviv University, where she earned her Artist’s Diploma with honors. 

Ms. Rub performs regularly as soloist and with different chamber groups. In Israel she performed as soloist with all the prominent orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta. She played in concert tours in Canada, South-Africa, Austria, Germany, France and Holland. She collaborated with renowned artists during their visit to Israel, such as violinsts Joshua Bell, Sarah Chang and Ivry Gitlis, tenor Daniel Johannsen, flutist Maxim Rubtsov and others. The Tel Aviv Piano Duo which she formed in 1983 performed the world premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s Arias and Barcarolles in 1989, during the Maestro’s last visit to Israel. She was engaged to perform the London premiere of this work in London later that year.

In 1989, Ms. Rub formed the Idan Trio. The Trio, with violinist Yevgenia Pikovsky (2nd violin principal of the IPO) and cellist Shmuel Magen performs regularly in Israel and abroad and recorded for the Israel Broadcasting Authority. Her first CD includes chamber music by Martinu, with flutist Yossi Arnheim and string soloists of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. This CD received excellent critic at the prestigious American Record Guide. Other  CD’s include repertoire of Norbert Glanzberg  and Israeli composers. Ms. Rub often performs with Yossi Arnheim, principal flutist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.  The duo performed 6 European tours and recorded 2 cd's. 

In the last 10 years she joined baritone David Sebba to perform the successful show "Stand-Up Opera" all over the country and in the Talin Festival in Estonia in 2013. In addition to her activity as a concert pianist, Irit  Rub is initiator and director of the  KeyNote program, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's program for music education and community outreach, founded in 2000.
