The Israeli Schubertiade is celebrating 20 years of activity, and presenting a rich and diverse program. In the main venue the Israeli Chamber Project will perform two octets for strings and wind instruments: one by Schubert, and the other by Jorg Widmann. The latter, written in 2004, in its debut performance in Israel - is an homage to Schubert, thus taking some of its musical content and spirit from his monumental octet. Also on this program are 6 Schubert songs, specially commissioned and arranged for voice and ensemble. The young Israeli baritone Kirill Odintsov will sing. The main concert will be at Recanati Auditorium at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, on January 31 at 19:30. At 18:30 Dr. Assaf Shelleg will give a talk about the two octets. The 2026 winter journey will start with, well.. Schubert’s great song cycle: Winterreise, performed by the Austrian tenor Daniel Johannsen and Dror Semel on a period piano. That concert will take place at the Eden-Tamir Music Center in Ein Kerem Jerusalem on January 10 at 11:00. In the following week, at Clairmont Hall of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, soprano Shira Patchornik, with Dan Deutch (piano), Raviv Leibzirer ( organ&piano) and Rosanna Jackson (clarinet) will present an all Schubert program, full of gems such as “Mignon Songs”, Fantasy in F minor for piano 4 hands, “Shepherd on the Rock”, and “Ave Maria” for soprano and organ. January 15 at 20:00, January 16 at 11:00 there.
